A Bright Summer Wedding at Syon Park London

Located just outside of Central London, but with the feeling of a sprawling countryside retreat, Syon Park was the setting for the beautiful summer wedding of Rishana and Yoshan. The couple were fun-loving and vibrant, and so their brief was bright, bold and with lots of colour to reflect their personalities and to celebrate the best of the British summer season. Pops of pale lilac, blue and dramatic burgundy were set against a base of fuchsia pink and deep greenery.
One of the reasons I love Syon Park as a venue is the variety in terms of zoning your day. Rishana and Yoshan held their ceremony in the main house which is traditionally elegant and appropriately grand for the occasion with it’s checkerboard tiled floor and classical statues. This was followed by the wedding breakfast in the light and airy Great Conservatory with such head height it’s easy to forget that it doesn’t open directly to the skies!
For the ceremony Rishana and Yoshan wanted to frame the space where they would become husband and wife, so we used beautiful urn arrangements placed on plinths which spilled over with trailing foliage and lots of summer flowers to bring colour into the ceremony. The classic style urn vessels beautifully complemented the grandeur and formality of the Great Hall and we were also able to repurpose throughout the day by moving them to sit behind the top table for the wedding breakfast. Extending the life of the arrangements and ensuring they can be enjoyed for as long as possible is the perfect way to get ultimate value for money in your floral arrangements.
The handing over of the bridal bouquet is always one of the most special moments as a floral designer, and passing Rishana her bridal bouquet full of the brightest pink dahlias with flashes of green, white coral and pale lilac was no exception.
The wedding breakfast was held in the Grade I listed, nineteenth-century glasshouse; the iconic Conservatory that I couldn’t seem to stop taking photos of. This part of the venue is a real celebration of the botanical, with it’s impressive Cactus Room and walkways filled with an array of exotic plants. Within the space, half of the guest tables had tall candelabra style centrepieces, which we adorned with a collected of delicate glass bud vases around the base, filled with individually exquisite blooms. The other half had towering glass fluted vases upon which we placed trailing garden-style arrangements with cascading jasmine. The combination of these two types of centrepiece and the mixing of different heights, allowed the eye to flow through the room and explore the spectacular domed ceiling above.
This was a wedding which was truly magical, from the aesthetic details down to the personal touches introduced by the bride and groom - including an acapella set from the bride and tables named after places they had visited together as a couple. Teamed with the incredible setting of Syon Park, the result was a truly unforgettable day for R&Y and their guests.
