A Romantic Wedding Editorial at Nonsuch Mansion

It is true that nothing beats the emotion, atmosphere and excitement of a real wedding, although as a creator, taking part in styled shoots or ‘editorials’ offers a different kind of opportunity - creating purely for the joy of creating and bringing ideas to life that had previously been living deep in the depths of your imagination. So when Freya (Weddings by Freya Jane) and Jasmine (By Jasmine Rose) approached me with the concept for this beautiful editorial I was very excited at the prospect of what we could create.
When Freya and Jasmine devised the concept for this shoot, they wanted the florals to take centre stage; to create impact and drama around the tablescape, which was to be the main feature of the shoot. To achieve this abundant look, we designed a table installation in the form of a sprawling, full-length table runner flowing across the length of the table and cascading down the sides. We always recommend a single large-scale installation over multiple smaller ones for couples wishing to make the most of their budget; a statement table runner like this would be perfect for an intimate wedding with just a few guests or as show-stopping top table piece.
Layering colour, tone and shape is so important when creating a statement installation, and we used this process of layering when creating the runner itself. Beginning with a base of beautiful greenery gave us an initial shape to work with, whilst dotting in seasonal cow parsley added a frothiness and natural feel. Once the foundations of the piece were in place we added seasonal florals in a variety of tones and colours including; ranunculus, roses, sweetpeas, aquilegia, scabious, butterfly ranunculus, delphiniums and tulips.
Freya added further interest and depth to the styling with a beautiful printed tablecloth from Gigi Event Design, gorgeous natural tableware from Luxury Hire Co. and stationery by Dove and Lace. Layering up details, textures and styling elements is the key to creating a look that feels interesting, abundant and luxurious. One of our favourite elements were the beautiful bespoke embroidered velvet bows by Bespoke Table Dressing, which served as place settings.
Another piece of advice we always offer our couples and clients is to choose floral arrangements that can be easily repurposed throughout your day. For instance, if you’re investing in a piece for your ceremony discuss with your florist a design that can be moved and re-used for your wedding breakfast. For this shoot we repurposed the meadows from the table ends and arranged them around the sweetheart chaise-longue; completely transforming how the flowers are used and ensuring nothing went to waste.
