A Romantic Boho Wedding at Syon Park, London

On a perfect summer’s evening Sophie & Azhar married in the gardens of The Great Conservatory at Syon Park; the majestic South-West London venue where part of the Netflix series Bridgerton was filmed. With it’s huge, domed ceiling and neo-classical structure, The Great Conservatory was the perfect setting for a sunlit wedding which was simultaneously elegant and relaxed. ‘Magical’ very much sums up their wedding in one word; from the venue, to the dress, the decor and to the couple themselves.
From my first consultation with Sophie I knew this wedding would be special. We initially discussed various colour schemes but settled on romantic, boho-style florals in dusky neutrals and soft rusts with hints of the darkest burgundy which paired beautifully with the Grade 1 listed glasshouse setting. Sophie has a true love of flowers (which is, incidentally, music to a floral designer’s ears), and wanted lots of interest and variety in terms of shape, texture and colour in all of the arrangements. We therefore used a mix of roses, dahlia and lisianthus, combined with grasses for texture and striking British-grown blooms such as dark rudbeckia and scabiosa for the eye-drawing details Sophie loves.
The bridal bouquet was carefully sized so as to enhance Sophie’s exquisitely intricate beaded gown, and coordinated with her beautiful bridesmaids wearing traditional sarees. The fusion of East and West was beautifully married together throughout the wedding, from the outfits of the bridal party and groomsmen to the delicious Asian-style menu. The attention to detail was paramount with gold touches adorning the table to perfectly complement the warmth of the floral palette.
The wedding stationery was designed by Sophie herself, including the Mr & Mrs welcome board. As the guests’ first glimpse of the evening space, we wanted this to give an inking of the decor and aesthetic which was to follow, so we adorned it with a beautiful floral meadow using lots of the dusky, earthy-toned roses, lisianthus and lots of grasses for height to enhance the relaxed, boho vibe. The beauty of a floral meadow is that once it has done it’s job of welcoming the guests, it can be easily transported to another area of the wedding, giving it a new lease of life and ultimate value for money.
The entire aesthetic of this wedding was truly spectacular; from the gentle golden hour light, the airy conservatory setting to the warmth of the floral palette. All elements combined to create a transient, beautiful moment in which Sophie & Azhar became husband and wife and began the next chapter of their beautiful story.
